Erasmus Exchange in Lebanon

As part of the Erasmus faculty exchange between the School of Advanced Social Studies and the Lebanese American University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Denijal Jegić had a guest lecture in Prof. Dr. Mateja Rek’s course “Communicating in an Intercultural Environment”. Discussing different forms of media bias, the lecture focused in particular on Western news reporting about the Middle East and investigated factors that shape media bias, such as media systems, political economy, and editorial policies. Orientalist representations and the case of Palestine were discussed in detail. The lecture benefited greatly from the interaction with SASS students.
